Data Collection and Usage
What Data Extension Handles
- Tab URLs: When you save a tab set, the extension stores the URLs of all open tabs locally
- Tab Set Names: Custom names you assign to saved tab sets
- Timestamps: Date and time when tab sets are saved
- Settings: Your preference for enabling/disabling of new tab page override
Important: The extension processes this data locally on your device. No data is sent to external servers or collected by any third party.
How Data is Stored
- Local Storage: All data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage APIs
- Bookmarks API: Tab sets are saved using Chrome's Bookmarks API for synchronisation across devices
- No External Servers: No data is sent to external servers or third-party services
Data Synchronisation
- Tab sets are stored using Chrome's Bookmarks API
- If you're signed into Chrome, Chrome's built-in bookmark sync may synchronise your tab sets across your Chrome browsers
- This synchronisation is handled entirely by Chrome - the extension does not control or access this process
- The extension has no access to synchronised data on other devices
Permissions Required
tabs
- Purpose: To read current open tabs and restore saved tab sets
- Usage: Only accessed when you explicitly save or restore tabs
- No monitoring: The extension does not track your browsing history or activity
bookmarks
- Purpose: To store tab sets as bookmarks for synchronisation
- Usage: Creates and manages bookmark folders named "Tab Saver"
- No access to other bookmarks: The extension only accesses bookmarks we create
storage
- Purpose: To save extension settings and preferences
- Usage: Stores your new tab page preference and theme choice
- Minimal data: Only stores essential settings
What Extension Doesn't Do
- No Data Collection: The extension does not collect browsing history
- No Data Sharing: The extension does not share data with third parties
- No External Communication: The extension does not make network requests to external servers
- All functionality works entirely within your browser: No data leaves your browser except through Chrome's built-in bookmark sync
User Control
- Data Management: You can export all your tab sets as a JSON file
- Import: You can import tab sets from JSON files
- Delete: You can delete individual tab sets or clear all data
- Uninstall: Removing the extension deletes all stored data
Settings Control
- New Tab Override: You can enable/disable of new tab page replacement
- Theme: You can choose between light and dark themes
- All settings are stored locally and under your control
Security
